Try dive

If you are unsure whether scuba diving is for you, a try dive will enable you to take your first breaths under water.  A one-to-one session with an experienced Try Dive instructor will give you a tailored introduction to scuba. A try dive is also a good way to refresh your memory if you’re qualified but have had a break from diving.

What does it involve?

You will meet your instructor, get a briefing on what to expect and ask any questions  you may have. There will be a brief explanation of the equipment, hand signals and safety procedures before entering the shallow end of the pool. You will kit-up in the water before being taking your first breaths underwater. At all times you will be under the watchful supervision of your instructor.

A try dive typically lasts 45 minutes, followed by a hot shower and a certificate. For those that are interested in becoming internationally certified divers we can then explain more about the club, joining fees and how to learn to scuba dive with Bracknell BSAC.

Who can do a try dive?

All ages are welcome but you must be able to stand safely in the pool which means you need to be a minimum of 1.5m tall. A parent / guardian must be present at all times for those under 18. Please let us know the ages of any minors when you book so that we can organise a suitably DBS checked instructor.

Anyone doing a try dive should be able to confidently swim 100 metres without the use of buoyancy aids.

Participants need to be medically fit. The Try Dive Form covers this in more detail and will be completed on the night. If you are in any doubt as to your suitability please contact us before booking your try dive.  You can contact us at trydives@bracknellscuba.org.uk or visit us at the club on a Thursday night.

When and Where?

Try dives are typically run on the first Thursday of each month (by prior appointment) from 8.00pm – 9.30pm in the main pool at Bracknell Leisure Centre (Everyone Active) on the A322 Bagshot Rd, Bracknell. Diver numbers are inevitably limited and we do encourage you to get in touch in plenty of time.

Please contact us for further information, or to book a date, by email at trydives@bracknellscuba.org.uk. Full joining details will be confirmed after your booking.
