Skill Development Course (SDC)

Underwater Photography

Minimum entry level: BSAC Sports Diver, or equivalent.

The course aims to teach the basic use of a compact digital camera and housing to students with little or no knowledge and experience of underwater photography. 

Course content includes:

  • optics 
  • camera fundamentals 
  • housings 
  • camera functions 
  • shooting techniques 
  • underwater photography practicals 
  • downloading and photo manipulation.


    Course programme

    a series of short theory lectures
    underwater practical lessons
    dry workshop

    Theory lessons and the dry practical workshop
     will be run over four weeks on Thursday evenings from 7.15pm – 8.15pm in our lecture room.

    Practical lessons will take place in the club pool from 8.30pm – 10.00pm and in open water at the coast.


    Student requirements

    For this course, all students will need:

  • a compact digital camera and underwater housing
  • enough memory for 100 images.

    Note: laptops with Adobe Photoshop will be provided but it would be useful to bring this along to the dry workshop if you have one. 


    Costs

    Course pack including student manual and qualification card on successful completion of the course is £23.00 + P&P*
