Skill Development Course (SDC)

Practical Rescue Management

Minimum entry level: BSAC Sports Diver or equivalent.

Aims to teach divers how to manage the resources at their disposal in order to make the most effective use of them in a rescue situation.

The course also provides an opportunity for further instruction in personal rescue skills to complement those undertaken during diver training but the emphasis will be on the development of rescue management skills.

Course content

  • the rescue process discussion
  • rescue management lesson
  • practical rescue management scenarios
  • helicopter operations 

    Course programme

    5 x theory lectures and discussion
    1 x practical session 

    Theory / discussion sessions will be run on Thursday evenings from 7.15pm – 8.15pm in our lecture room.

    Practical lessons will take place in Wraysbury training lake

    Course pack including student manual and qualification card on successful completion of the course is £32.00 + P&P*
