Skill Development Course (SDC) Automated External Defibrillator (AED) course Minimum entry level: anyone over the age of 12 with up-to-date skills and knowledge of current ‘Basic Life Support’ protocols*. Little or no knowledge and experience of Automated External Defibrillators (AED) is required.
The course draws particular attention to precautions required in the diving environment according to Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines. Course content includes:
4 x theory lessons The whole course is 2.5 hours duration and is normally run over one or two Thursday evenings from 7.30pm – 10.00pm in our club lecture room.
Certification will be issued to students who complete the course satisfactorily. The BSAC considers that on completion of this course, students will remain competent in the skills taught for twelve months. After this time a refresher is recommended. Refresher training will also be required for any further training which is dependent on these skills and knowledge.
